There are many more but THE LAST SUPPER is my favourite Religious Artwork. Leonardo’s LAST SUPPER (Started in 1495 and completed in 1498) is among the most famous Religious Artwork paintings in the world. In its monumental simplicity, the composition of the scene is masterful; the power of its effect comes from the striking contrast in the attitudes of the 12 disciples with Christ. In this Leonardo has portrayed moment of high tension when he says that one of you here is going to betray me and all his apostles are agitated as naturally they are human beings and not God .Only Christ alone is conscious of his divine mission and sits in serenity and so does Judas who again is sitting in isolation and is the guilty one for he knows what is going to happen too. Leonardo attained a height of expression that has inspired a lot of people and has been a role model of its kind . A lot of famous masters like Rubens and Rembrandt have marvelled at his work and are greatly influenced by it which shows a lot in their work too. While the last supper prints are abundant all over the internet, there is only one true last supper which is situated on the end wall of the dining hall at the monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, Italy. The original painting has started chipping away and it has been restored many times, it is not really going to be the same for lot of people are of the opinion that it has been repainted more than it has been restored. In spite of that you will come across a lot of people citing this as the favourite classic piece of art.
